Health

I had to go get my small intestine checked out today - its most certainly nothing and if it is something its probably nothing major. But it does make you pause... and if you are healthy, thank God for the blessing of your health.

Today I'm breathing, I can see, I can hear, I'm generally sane - I'll BITE that any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Anything New

Today we had a guy start work at my office. He's in a fairly high level position and so he is being introduced to everyone. I can just imagine what must be going through his head: Will I like this place? Do they like this place? Do I fit in? What do they think of me? etc. etc. etc. - All the questions you probably asked yourself on the first day of anything new.

As I sat back and watched him I realized how wonderful of an experience this can be if you embrace it for what it's worth. A chance to start anew? That doesn't come around very often. I'm not implying that you become someone all together different but you do get a fresh start to be a "better" vesion of you. How many of those opportunities do you get in your life today?

BITE life and go try something new. Go meet new people, go learn to play an instrument, go try new food. Don't sit back in the comfort of your day-to-day familiar life - expand it.

Special Visits

About once every month my wife surprises me and stops by the office with our 2 kids. Well, today was one of those lucky days. I can always hear them coming from a mile away but I still act surprised when they pop their heads into my doorway.

It's amazing how my spirit changes when I see their smiling, happy faces. I instantaneously snap out of my "business mind" and turn into "Dad". I love that moment because it's such a great way to remember who we are and what our purpose on life should be. Don't get me wrong - I do need to work, I do need to be good at my job, I do need to like my job. But my job is the ends to justify the life I live and love.

So the next time you need to transition from "business mind" to "Dad or Mom", BITE life and go 'all in' on the parent roll. You'll feel the difference between the two mindsets but your kids will feel it more.
